It’s No Drumming Gorilla, but I do Love that New Cadbury Ad…
I found myself singing Baccara’s, ‘Yes Sir, I Can Boogie,’ in the shower this morning. I put this down to one of two things. I’m either having flashbacks to my childhood and images of my Mother dancing around the living room with a vacuum cleaner singing that song (yes, she did that. And she also sang it into the mirror when she was doing her hair ahead of a night out) or that new Cadbury TV has it stuck in my head.
I’m going to assume it’s the latter. At the age of 28 one would hope I had gotten over my Mum’s vacuum dancing. Anyway, here’s the ad for those of you who have no idea what I’m going on about. Apologies if you start singing this at work today:
What’s that Song??
If you’re planning to do a bit of a Keith in your own office and lip sync to the song, it’s ‘Yes Sir, I Can Boogie’ by Baccara – a 70s classic, I believe. Not that I’d remember personally, of course.
As Good as the Gorilla?
Keith the lip syncing logistics manager is a quality character, but it remains to be seen whether he’s as memorable as the drum playing gorilla of 2007. That’s a lot to live up to, Keith. The Cadbury Gorilla ad was released in 2007 and, almost 7 years on, I still remember it vividly.
And in case you didn’t know, the song on that Cadbury drumming gorilla ad is Phil Collins’ ‘In the Air Tonight.’
Cadbury can always be counted on for a quality ad.
[Update 12th Feb] The Actor’s Name
So, I asked the agency behind the ad (Fallon) for the name of the actor following some of your comments. The lovely Bella at Fallon responded really rather quickly to my question with the actor’s name… He’s called Brendan Gibson, so Google him until your heart’s content Brendan fans!
