Google Trends: ‘Link Building’ in Decline.
I spend Sunday nights on watching X Factor and messing around on Google Trends. Try not to be too envious of my rock n roll lifestyle, folks.
Anyway, tonight I took at look at global trends for four phrases since 2009:
- Link building
- Link bait
- Content marketing
- Inbound marketing
Not surprising, really, that ‘link building’ is a term in decline (it’s a bit of a dirty word now, isn’t it?) despite the fact we all know Google still places a LOOOOT of emphasis on links. But even ‘link bait,’ as a term is just a bit stagnant. And, of course, since we ‘cleaned up’ our lingo and started calling that stuff ‘content marketing’ and the term ‘inbound marketing’ gained traction, it’s no surprise to see this reflected in Trends.
For my next trick, I am going to find something better to do with my Sunday nights.
