One Small Step for Man… And More of Neil Armstrong’s Most Memorable Quotes
I was saddened to hear of the death of Neil Armstrong last night. Aged 82 years, the first man to ever set foot on the moon took his final breath. I hope he had chance to appreciate NASA’s latest foray into space in the form of the images being fed back from the Mars Curiosity rover.
Of course, someone who achieved so much greatness in his lifetime will not be forgotten. Here are some of Neil Armstrong’s most memorable quotes:
That’s one small step for [a] man, one giant leap for mankind.
Neil Armstrong’s most notable quote referring to his first steps on the surface of the moon.
Houston, Tranquility Base here. The Eagle has landed.
Armstrong’s words following the successful anding of Apollo 11.
It suddenly struck me that that tiny pea, pretty and blue, was the Earth. I put up my thumb and shut one eye, and my thumb blotted out the planet Earth. I didn’t feel like a giant. I felt very, very small.
Neil Armstrong’s account of blotting out the Earth with his thumb.
I think we’re going to the Moon because it’s in the nature of the human being to face challenges. We’re required to do these things just as salmon swim up stream.
A legend of a man who achieved something children all over the world dream of doing. RIP Neil Armstrong.
